Why should you write when no one is going to read it?

Blogging is not like the old times where people would like to spend hours in a blog to read every word from the post. This is the late 2009 and social media is soon taking over on all of your online habits. When was the last time you had read a post from the beginning to end? New media blog readers scan those headlines and will only click on the link they are interested; after appearing on your blog they will start to scan your site and if they are in a mood, they will tweet your post or comment on it if they are trying to build links for their site.

So why don’t you take a different approach to get the attention from your readers; harvest some traffic and monetize it? Here are some great ideas which will replace your boring blog posts,

Post a funny pic!

Yes I do know that too! 90% of the pages being popular on StumbleUpon are funny or worthless pictures. Take your camera and shoot a picture. If you don’t have one, then search on flickr and get a good one. Be sure to credit the photographer for that!

Tell them the story they already know!

When there’s news, a lot of bloggers will be posting the story on their blogs. This is way of viral promotion and the way your readers will be benefited. The story doesn’t remains new but still people tend to promote the same story from different sites. This is nice way to get some juicy traffic from influenced audience.

By the way, did you know that facebook has aqcuired friendfeed for $50 million?

The FriendFeed team is extremely excited to become a part of the talented Facebook team. We’ve always been great admirers of Facebook, and our companies share a common vision. Now we have the opportunity to bring many of the innovations we’ve developed at FriendFeed to Facebook’s 250 million users around the world and to work alongside Facebook’s passionate engineers to create even more ways for you to easily share with your friends online. ~ff blog

Share a list of posts from the web!

This just works every time! You search the web for a topic and collect some very good resources. Then you list all of those links on a post and there you have your big list post. Not only your readers will love the collection, they will come to that page again and again to get to those articles.

Write a tutorial post

Figure out how you have connected the coffee machine to your power socket and write it on your blog! Here you have a great new tutorial: “How to connect your coffee machine.” Tutorial could be on anything and these are the most searched things on the web. Tutorials help the person looking for a solution and it will bring a lot of incoming links. Share it even if it’s a child’s play :)

7 reasons why most bloggers quit blogging within a year

I have blogger friends and also friends who are new, excited about the concept of internet marketing. Most of them have started to blog or either planning to start off a blog. But as the time goes, these faces disappear from the online world and soon I wonder what happened, why they are not actively blogging like before? Most of the enthusiastic blogger friends of mine don’t even make it up to at least one year as they fall.

Now today I’m sharing a few reasons why most bloggers quit blogging within a year. I want you to read them below if you are a newbie blogger and make sure you don’t quit blogging.

1 You don’t love blogging

You will quit if you start something that you don’t love at all. Sometimes bloggers blog just for updating their site or to keep up with the audience. If you don’t love blogging or even blogging on this topic, why blog? You have to care about your blog and your readers. You never know who is following your blog and waiting for great new updates.

2 You run too many blogs

I know few people who manages too many blogs like a main blog, tech blog, personal blog and another blog about their blogging habits. After all that you also have to manage being you, your family and work too! Running too many blogs at once is really hard and you will get bored with it real soon. When I started amader dunia, I had another regular blog running and when amader dunia started to take off, it was really hard to manage 2 blogs at once; so I quit blogging at my first blog and focused on amader dunia

3 You want to make money online

No there’s no problem at making money with your blog but the fact is that majority of the bloggers start to blog just because they want to earn money from their blogs. You can’t earn money with a blog before building a content rich website. You have to provide the content and a reason to read from your site. Most bloggers get frustrated at this and at some point when they see it’s impossible for them to continue, they quit.

4 You didn’t invested any money on it

Blogs are free with blogspot or wordpress but it needs investment if you want to own a domain, have to host the content at your webhost. I’m running meghlaakash on HostGator servers from January 2009 and since then I have paid $130 so far, that means almost TK 9,000 alone in the hosting. Additional money spent on buying and renewing domains, contest giveaways and the bills I paid for my PC upgrades and internet subscription. So just because I have spent so much money for my blog, I won’t stop blogging that easily.

5 You are not blogging with wordpress

The majority of the bloggers are using free platform and have never tried out wordpress. Wordpress is cool for bloggers and web site owners with so many great features, themes, tools and flexibility. Just because you have a blogspot blog, you don’t care about your blog and finally you quit.

6 You are not even writing your own posts

Most bloggers are too lazy to write blog posts themselves and what they do is to copy paste content from the web. They think they are smart and nobody will ever know. You won’t attract people with copied content even if they are great writings, google won’t give you good rankings either.

7 You are not reading other blogs

You don’t read other blogs at all and you quit saying “Blogging sucks!” -you have no rights to say this buddy, the blogsphere is a tremendous place with high quality professionals. If you don’t read other blogs, you will soon run out of ideas and motivations. Also reading other blogs will give you new tips to maximize blogging efforts.

How to Make Even More Money with your blog?

There are so many usual tips on money making and a whole lot of them are currently resting on my blog, now here I’m going to share a few tips that will help you make even more money from your blog. Here it goes,

Don’t monetize your blog

Wait, is this a SPEED BREAKER? Yeah this is a strategy. When you start your blog, try to build the content and don’t put any ads on your blog for at least 4-6 months. Promote your blog and add more useful content. When you will do this, people will see that this blogger is not monetizing his blog and will get more interested in reading your blog. People will connect with you and ask you for advertise on your blog. This way when you will open up the ads on your blog after 6 months (when you will have a good readership and a page rank) you will start getting ad offers and make even more money from your blog.

Optimize your adsense ads

If you are using adsense, then try to make it blend into your content and theme. Add less ad spots on your blog and put them in top. So you will get more clicks and more money. Try filtering the MFA ads using the competitive ad filter option in adsense to keep your ad stream free of low paying ads.

Sign up for many paid review sites

When you sign up for many paid review sites and submit your site on their marketplace, the chances are you will receive regular offers and can post the paid review in your blog. Paid reviews are great way to build content and earn extra money without even using ad space.

Offer a service

Create a section on your blog called “services” where you can offer your services such as consulting, freelancing, photography or logo design. I have a section called Hire Me and it has sent so many client toward my web design service. This is a nice way to make even more money from your blog.

Donation button

Many bloggers offer a paypal donation button on their blog. Now they ask for donations in return for their contribution. You can too add a paypal donation button on your blog and this way your readers can donate you some money.

How To Hire A Professional Resume Writer

If you have been conducting a job search recently, you know how incredibly competitive the job market is right now. To really stand out from the masses, to win interviews, and to get the job offer, you have to give yourself every available edge possible. For those job searchers truly interested in conducting a fast, successful search, that includes a professionally written resume. Especially right now, when unemployment is so high, promoting yourself with a professionally written resume has become almost a necessity-not a luxury! But, how do you hire a professional resume writer? Not all resume writers are equal in talent and experience. How do you make your choice? Here are a few guidelines to help you. Review work samples — Would you commission a custom painting without ever having seen the artist’s work? Would you hire an advertising agency to promote a new product without having reviewed examples of past ad campaigns? Of course not! Resume writing is a craft that requires a very unique blend of creativity, writing skills, and current knowledge of the job market and constantly changing trends. True professional resume writing firms never use templates. Each and every resume they create is as unique as the individual client. While it won’t be identical to your future resume, you can still tell a lot about the quality of work produced by viewing examples of past projects. Many resume writers publish examples of their work online and a handful are contributors to published books on resume writing. Before selecting a resume writer, review their work and be certain you are comfortable with the quality, general style, and diversity of the examples. Check credentials — There are several national organizations devoted to the education and professional development of resume writers. Each of these organizations offers their own version of training and certification programs. While there are good writers who remain uncertified, choosing a certified resume writer ensures that you will be working with a trained, experienced, tested professional. Do be aware that some certifications are more rigorous than others. The best have prerequisites for writers, test various areas of competence, use a blind grading process, and have CEU requirements to maintain certification. Check references — There is a very valid, honest reason that many professional resume writers will hesitate when asked to provide references. Professional ethics and client confidentiality concerns prevent those of us who care about such things from providing the names of past clients. However, most professionals who are able to will provide testimonial letters written by past clients, using just the clients’ initials, location, and job title or industry to help protect their clients’ identities. LinkedIn profiles are another great place to look for references from past clients. If the writer you are thinking of working with has a LinkedIn presence, past clients may have voluntarily written references, and in these cases, the references are linked to a real person by name. Be extremely wary of working with a professional resume writer who is unable to provide you any references. Have a written agreement and understand what is included — The agreement doesn’t need to be fancy or written in legalese, but it is always a good idea to have a written agreement. That way, you can be sure that you clearly understand the resume writer’s process and policies, and be sure that there are no misunderstandings about what is to be delivered and what the charges will be. Does the writer offer other services? Is he or she able to assist you with job search letters or other documents? Are they included in the fee or separate? Will you be given access to the computer files so that you can send your resume electronically or make minor updates yourself? Are there any other value-add services bundled with the project? Can the writer assist with future resume updates? Does the writer offer any other services that you might need, such as resume distribution or job search coaching? How does the writer gather information to write the resume?
What if corrections or changes are needed before you can use the resume? What are the fees associated with all of this and what is the payment schedule? Make sure you know the answers to these questions before you hire a writer. Understand the guarantee — Remember that a resume is a tool, and even the best tool in the world will be ineffective if it is used inappropriately. Once a resume has left the resume writer’s office, it is completely out of that writer’s control how that resume will be used-or not used. If a writer claims to guarantee a job or even interviews, be wary and read the fine print closely. While some might try to offer this guarantee with good intentions, most know it isn’t a realistic guarantee and will make you jump through hoops to prove how you have used the resume before allowing you to collect. Others more realistically guarantee that you will be satisfied with the quality of the service and the deliverables. Whatever the guarantee, if any, just be sure you understand it. Think and plan ahead — It is not a good idea to procrastinate! If you are currently in a job search or are expecting to conduct a job search soon, don’t put off hiring a professional resume writer until you have a job that you want to apply for or have a recruiter requesting it. Quality takes time and the truly good resume writers are in demand and usually booked in advance. Give yourself time to research and select the best writer for the job and then plan for at least an additional two weeks for turnaround of the finished project. And finally… Understand that you will get what you pay for — In discussing certifications and the need to check work samples, I alluded to this issue. In most states there are no licensing requirements for a resume writer. Anyone with a computer can put up a website, and start calling himself a professional resume writer. Sadly, there are many examples of unqualified people doing this and unknowing job seekers who have been “burned” by them. Does the person you are thinking of hiring have a credible web presence? Do they belong to professional associations? Attend regular trainings and conferences? Have articles they have written or example resumes that have been published? In short, not all resume writers are equal, and those who are the experienced, respected experts in the field charge appropriately for their craft. The fee range is pretty broad, but it would not be uncommon to pay somewhere in the $400-$1200 range to have a professional resume written. Generally, the complexity of your project will have an impact on the fee charged. Some charge more and some charge less, but if it is significantly less, you might want to ask yourself why that is. Does the writer really have the experience he or she claims to have? Be especially wary about working with some of the high-volume companies that outsource all the work to inexperienced writers to whom they usually pay ridiculously low wages to produce resumes of questionable quality. Some even outsource the projects overseas, to writers who do not speak English as a first language. It is your career and all your career dreams at stake! Your resume is not the place to cut corners. It is well worth the extra money to pay for the quality and experience of a true professional resume writer.
